‘Bambi, The Wilderness Years’ to leave audiences spellbound

The British Council has organised a theatre tour titled ‘Bambi, The Wilderness Years’ by Green Ginger Theatre Company from 2 to 15 February 2001. Green Ginger is an avant-garde UK-based theatre company which is at the forefront of revolutionising both theatre and puppetry by fusing the two art forms. It skilfully uses masks, futuristic make-up and creative special effects to enhance the impact of its productions. 'Bambi, The Wilderness Years'

Green Ginger are staging their acclaimed production in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and Peshawar. The play is very entertaining and original with engaging characters. The imagineers of Green Ginger use masked performers, grotesque puppets, animated sets and projections to shed new darkness on a bittersweet story.

The show innovatively keeps the story of Bambi alive amid spray-painting graffiti artists, robbers, lap dancers, blackmailers, and futuristic police called ‘visors’ who patrol the skies. The production keeps the audience spell bound with brilliant use of lighting, music and special effects.

The show incorporates creative use of multimedia, superb quality costumes, very powerful lighting effects and futuristic music to give a unique and enthralling experience to the audience.

Critics in Europe have called the play ‘ingeniously imaginative’. The New York Times has described the play as ‘Psychologically astute and caustically comic, splendidly acted, eerie, funny and very touching.’
